A New Year and new software

We hope everyone had a wonderful break with time for rest and rejuvenation with family and friends. As we start this new year, we (in IT Services) have a couple of announcements of new software updates we are applying to campus computers.

First, we have updated the phone system and the phone software (MiCollab) is also being updated. As we push out this software update, you will need to confirm the upgrade process. Also, we have worked with the University Police Department (UPD) to help update the emergency alert systems used on campus. Part of this upgrade includes changing the software on your computer used for receiving emergency alerts. Look for more detailed information from the UPD in a separate announcement but we will be pushing out the software to your computers. This update will not require any interaction from you but will allow you to receive alerts from UPD and Lion Alert to your desktop.
