Come join the Department of Foreign Languages on Tuesday, February 17th from 11am to 2 pm in the GUC atrium for a celebration that crosses language borders and merges multiple cultures.
Mardi Gras (French), Karneval (German), or Carnavales (Spanish)…it’s the same celebration with different customs.
French Club will be serving King Cake and have fun facts about Mardi Gras.
Spanish Club will serve “buñuelos”, a traditional Spanish Caribbean street food and give out t-shirts to those who participate in their Spanish language/Carnavales culture trivia. The Reina del Carnaval (Queen of Carnaval) will distribute flowers.
German Club will serve Berliner, a traditional Karneval donut, and give out “Karneval” t-shirts. Cut a tie off a guy to symbolically take back the power for the women in a custom straight from Köln, Germany.
